When pursuing a higher education, it’s important to follow a study path that motivates and challenges you. But in reality, the competition for jobs can be fierce and, unfortunately, not all graduates are immediately successful in finding employment, relevant to their field of study.
In 2012, there were significant changes made to the food science program at the University of Iceland, where a new line was offered in the master‘s program, international M.Sc. degree in food science. Among the initial 11 students who enrolled in this program, nine of them had been hired by companies around Iceland shortly after their studies completed.
Dr. Gregory L. Yelp, who did long term research at PepsiCo Inc., discussed many the opportunities that food scientists have within the food industry, at a conference organized by Matís in Reykjavík, Iceland. We couldn’t agree more.
