Matis coordinates and takes part in several international research projects. We believe that scientific integrity and capabilities are key to future value creation, but financial integrity is of no less importance, for Matis, our clients and our collaborators.
In past years, investments have been made in more sophisticated accounting systems and managers sent to demanding courses with focus on increased financial overview, such as the General Management Program at Harvard Business School and H2020 financial management courses and seminars.
In the months to come a focused Project Management Office (PMO) will be developed as an integral part of all research work at Matis, with the aim of further strengthening financial overview and emphasis on research impact, allowing our scientists to focus on their research; devote themselves first and foremost to their specialty and their scientific work.
„Matís’ good project finance system, with adequate processes, is one of the keys to generating trust among our partners and those who finance and fund our projects, and our experience is that we are increasingly given financial oversight of projects. Establishing Matís‘ PMO is one of many key parts in further strengthening our good reputation,“ says Gudlaug Thora Marinosdottir, head of the PMO at Matis.
Dr. Sveinn Margeirsson, the CEO of Matis says that developing a focused PMO is a part of the company’s strategy, which will be implemented in the months to come. “Matis is a science community, based on strong infrastructure and collaboration, with the aim to maximize the impact of investment in research and innovation. Financial transparency and overview are key to obtain such ambitious goals,” says dr. Margeirsson, who provides any additional information.
