Sigrún Elsa Smáradóttir from Matís will give a lecture ” Innovation in cross-sectoral bioeconomy” at the Latvia University of Agriculture on Thursday.
Latvia University of Agriculture (LUA), The Nordic Council of Ministers and Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia convene a stakeholder forum in Latvia in order to seek joint political endorsement and explore cross-sector potential of bioeconomy.

About the lecturer
Sigrún Elsa Smáradóttir is educated in Business Administration (MBA) and food science (BSc) from the University of Iceland. Sigrún Elsa is a Research Group Leader at Matís, Icelandic Food and Biotech R&D, her work mainly involves internal and external strategy and policy projects, business development and innovation projects many in the field of Bioeconomy. She is currently heading the Nordic projects “Arctic Bioeconomy-II” and the three year chairmanship project “Innovation in the Nordic Bioeconomy” initiated in 2014 when Iceland chaired the Nordic Council of Ministers. Sigrún Elsa also coordinates the work of the West Nordic Bioeconomy platform and a minister appointed committee focusing on a Bioeconomy strategy for Iceland. Further Sigrún Elsa is a member of the advisory Committee of the Global Bioeconomy Summit 2015 in Berlin, the Nordic Marine Think Tank and heads the organizing committee of the World Seafood Conference 2017.
